There are a lot of different course subjects and searching for the right one can be tedious each time.

There is a quick way to get close to the subject you want without manually running down the whole scroll bar. Just click on the drop down list and then press the first letter of the subject area you want. This will bring you to the first subject that has that as the first letter.

Let’s say you are interested in Mathematics courses. Clicking on the drop down box and then hitting the M key will bring you directly to Management - the first subject area listed under M.  Mathematics is just down the list from Management.

select Mathematics

You can also search by Class Type and Session. Click on the Class Type drop down list and select the type of course you want. For instance, if you know you want an Independent Study course, selecting that class type will narrow your results down. Looking for Mini Session courses or classes in Summer’s First Five week Session? Use the Session drop down list and choose which specific session you would like to attend.

You can specify that you only want to see classes that satisfy an ACE outcome or meet other specific criteria, such as having low-cost materials or is part of the Nebraska Now program. Select the drop-down box next to Class Attribute to help you filter based on the checkboxes next to the attributes.

Matches Any - Results will show classes that have any of the selected class attributes (For example, if you selected ACE 8 and Low-Cost E-Book, it will list classes that satisfy ACE 8 or have low-cost e-books)
Matches All -  Results will show classes that have all the selected class attributes (For example, if you selected ACE 6 and ACE 9, it will list classes that satisfy both ACE outcomes)
Matches None - Results will show classes that have none of the selected class attributes (For example, if you selected ACE 3 and Nebraska Now, it will show a list of classes that do not satisfy ACE 3 and are not listed with the Nebraska Now attribute)

Each class has a unique “Class Number” for each term. This number can be up to 5 digits long and is listed in the on-line class schedule.

If you know a class number you can add it directly to your shopping cart without doing a class search. Some classes may not appear in the class schedule and a department, instructor or advisor may give you the class number so you can directly add it to your shopping cart. Type the course number into the Quick Search box and click on the course as it appears. This will take you directly to the Enrollment Preferences for the class as if you selected it from the class schedule.

file swap iconWhat is Swap and how do I use it?

The Swap function allows you to swap a currently enrolled class for a different one.

The advantage of using this function is that if the swap does not succeed, it does not drop your original class. Suppose you are trying to drop a class and add another class that meets at the same time and days of the week.

Using add and drop functions you would first have to drop the class from your schedule and then try to add the new class. If you find out that you don’t qualify for the new class, you then have to try and add back your previous class. Using the swap function is a whole lot easier and faster.

1. You can swap from the Shopping Cart or from one of your Enrolled courses. First, add the course you would like to swap to into your shopping cart.

If you are swapping from your shopping cart, click on the class and a drop down menu will appear

2. Select Swap from Cart. The enrollment process will start, and Class Options will display. Once you proceed on, you will come across the Select From Enrolled Classes screen. This allows you to choose a course you are already enrolled in and swap it out for a new course.

Select from enrolled class

3. You will continue on and confirm the swap. If the swap is successful you will receive an enrollment message saying so at the end of the enrollment processing.

Confirmation: This class has been replaced

4. If you are swapping from your Enrolled courses, click on the course you would like to swap out and the drop down menu will appear. Select Swap from Enrolled. Choose what course in your shopping cart you would like to swap it with. The rest of the steps are similar to the ones mentioned above.

pen iconWhat is Edit Enrollment and how do I use it?

The Edit function allows you to change something about one of your classes without dropping it. It is located on the navigation bar below the Enrollment tab.

A light box will appear on the page displaying Edit Class Enrollment Options. For a variable credit hour class, it allows you to change the number of credit hours in the class. For a class that allows a change in grading options, it allows you to change a class between pass/no pass and a grade. For classes that have associated recitation or lab sections, it allows you to move from one lab or recitation section to another without going through the drop/add process (this only works when the lab or recitation carries no credit hours).
