Employers needing to verify student enrollment or degree:

Employers (potential or current) can verify a student’s enrollment status and/or degree by using the Verification Services of the National Student Clearinghouse. There is a small charge for this service.

We are unable to fulfill any verification requests for students that attended prior to Fall 1986 due to the partial closure of campus. We apologize for this inconvenience.

*Important Information:

FERPA regulates that only directory information can be released without written consent from the student. If the information you request is not in this list, OR the student has requested non-disclosure on their directory information, the student will need to provide written consent. This can be done through the FERPA release formDirectory information is as follows:

  • Student name
  • Year at the University
  • Dates of attendance
  • Academic college and major field of study
  • Enrollment status (undergraduate or graduate; full-time or part-time)
  • Participation in officially recognized activities and sports
  • Degrees, honors and awards received
  • Most recent educational agency or institution attended

For Current Students and Alumni that attended after Fall 1986:

You can request an official letter certifying your enrollment status through MyRED under the Enrollment Tab. The letter can be mailed to a specific address.

  1. Login to MyRED
  2. Hover over the Enrollment Tab
  3. Click on the “Request Verifications” link. The request eform will open up in another window.
  4. Fill out the request and click the Submit button.

If additional information is required to be added to your verification that is not listed in the request eform, please contact us at 402-472-3635 or email us at registrar@unl.edu. We cannot modify any requests that have been submitted or processed.

Upon request, the Office of the University Registrar (OUR) will provide certified copies for University of Nebraska–Lincoln issued transcripts, diplomas, and enrollment and degree verifications. A certified copy is a document authenticated and notarized by the OUR. The types of documents that can be certified are:

  • An official University of Nebraska–Lincoln transcript— produced by the OUR with submission of the Certified Copy Request Form.
  • A photocopy of the original diploma—the university does not retain copies of diplomas. If an original diploma is not available, see instructions on how to order a diploma replacement.
  • An official Enrollment or Degree Verification—produced by the OUR with submission of the Certified Copy Request Form.

Please allow 5-7 business days for processing once the request is received by our office.

Important Note: Before a certified copy request for transcripts or diplomas can be processed, your student account must be clear from ‘Hold(s)’. Please check MyRED before proceeding with your request. The OUR will not process requests for transcripts or diplomas until all ‘Hold(s)’ are clear.

Cost:

Cost for certified copies has been temporarly waived until further notice.

Mailing:

Certified copies are sent via first class mail to the address provided on the request form, unless otherwise specified. If you require express mail or this needs to be sent internationally, please provide a pre-paid addressed envelope or credit card information. We use FedEx to mail internationally.

Graduating Students:

If planning ahead, graduates may request their diploma or one of the above documents to be available following graduation. Please contact the Office of the University Registrar for more information regarding this option.

Apostille:

On occasion, an Apostille or additional authentication is required. If so, please contact the Nebraska Secretary of State, Notary Division to obtain further information.

Upon request, the OUR will forward certified copies to the Nebraska Secretary of State, Notary Division.
